(AP) -- The Nevada Supreme Court says prosecutors from the district attorney's office in Las Vegas can oppose O.J. Simpson's latest bid for release from prison.

The state high court ruled Thursday that Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson's longstanding marriage to the state court judge who handled Simpson's trial should not disqualify career prosecutors who previously handled the Simpson case from opposing the appeal.

The ruling upholds a decision by Clark County District Court Judge Kathleen Delaney earlier this year.

She ruled that Wolfson didn't stand to benefit from the outcome of the appeal.

Simpson's appeal seeks a new trial, claiming ineffective representation by lawyers who represented Simpson at trial in 2008.

Wolfson became district attorney this year. He's married to former District Judge Jackie Glass. She resigned in May 2011.
