The Bulldog offense found their stride early and scored five touchdowns in their first six possessions to down Lincoln (Mo.) University 42-12 in the home opener for Truman.

The Bulldogs move to 2-0 in the MIAA for the first time since 2000. They will host Northwestern Oklahoma State next Saturday night in the season’s lone non-conference game.

Truman’s first drive of the game set the tone as the Bulldogs methodically marched down the field in 12 plays, going 74 yards with running back Will Mosquera capping it off with a three yard touchdown run. Quarterback Conrad Schottel completed five of six passes on the opening possession and the Bulldogs converted on three straight third downs.

From there the flood gates opened as Garrett White knifed his way down the field for a 55-yard touchdown run. White finished with a team high 92 yards rushing on 11 carries.

Schottel then laid a pass perfectly in the near corner of the endzone to Paul Taylor for a 19-yard TD reception. Taylor and Schottel again would hook up early in the second quarter on an 18-yard strike for the 35-0 lead.

The Blue Tigers (0-2; 0-2 MIAA) got on the scoreboard just before half as Jacob Morris capped off a nine-play, 81-yard drive, however the PAT was blocked by the Bulldogs.

Mosquera would score his third touchdown of the night early in the third quarter as the Bulldogs took advantage of an errant snap on a punt to set up shop at the Blue Tiger 10.

Morris would close out the scoring with a seven yard pass to Maurice Woodard in the fourth.

All three Bulldog quarterbacks took snaps during the contest, with Schottel completing 17-of-29 for 215 yards and Taylor Breen going 4-of-5 for 46. Zach Tobin completed his first collegiate pass for eight yards in the final stanza.

Truman had nine ball carriers during the contest for a net rushing yardage of 173 on 44 carries and 11 receivers caught 22 passes for 269 yards. The Bulldogs outgained Lincoln 442 to 289.

Robert Gayden had an interception and Richie Schumacher recovered a fumble for the ‘Dog defense.

Jacob Morris led the Blue Tigers with 195 yards passing with Andre Borney catching seven balls for 81 yards.
