The Truman men’s soccer team scored three goals in seven minutes in the first half and rode the momentum to a 3-1 home victory on Saturday afternoon against Westminster (Mo.).
 
Matt Langley got the scoring going in the 23^rd minute when he headed in a Charlie Backus free kick to the top right corner of the net. For Langley, it marked his team-leading second goal of the season.
 
Then, just 1:22 later, Truman’s Dylan Carter played a ball across the front of the goal mouth and saw it deflect off a Blue Jay defender into the back of the net for an own goal. Moments later in the 30^th minute, the Blue Jays gave Truman another free tally, misplaying a bouncing ball in the box and kicking it into their own net for a 3-0 Bulldog lead.
 
WC would get on the board with a penalty kick goal in the 58^th minute, but that was the only blemish of the day for Bulldog keeper Nick Wallner who made three saves in his 90 minutes of work.
 
Truman out-shot the Blue Jays 9-4 on target and earned two corners to just one for Westminster.
 
The Bulldogs (1-2) face a quick turnaround and will travel to Belleville, Ill., on Sunday afternoon for a 4:00 pm match against Lindenwood-Belleville.
