Baseball’s Devon Myers and Long/Triple Jumper Jennifer Zweifel have been selected as Outstanding Truman Senior Student-Athletes for the 2011-12 school year.
Myers is a three-time team captain for the Bulldog Baseball team and has played in every game for the past four seasons.
He will finish his Truman career as the Bulldogs all-time hits leader and will finish in the top five in five other offensive categories.
He is a two-time honorable mention all-MIAA selection with this year’s team being announced next week (May 8).
Myers has been an MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
He represents the baseball program on Truman’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, is a member of the American Medical Student Association, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Pre-Students of Osteopathic Medicine organizations.
Zweifel (Maryville, Mo., Maryville)enters her final month of collegiate competition as a four-time All-American and is Truman’s record holder in the indoor long and triple jumps and outdoor record in the triple.
She finished the 2012 indoor season with a third place finish in the long jump and a fourth place showing in the triple jump and won the MIAA Indoor Track & Field championship in the triple.
She is a three-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team member and a 2012 nominee to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
She is the reigning Miss Northeast Counties and will represent the area at the Miss Missouri pageant later this summer.
Zweifel serves on the Truman Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, is a university student ambassador, a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, a professional chemistry fraternity and a member of the American Chemical Society.
The Senior Scholar-Athletes awards were given based on cumulative grade-point average.
