Revered Local Tennis Coach Retiring

Maharishi boys tennis coach Lawrence Eyre is calling it a career after this season.

Eyre has coached the Pioneers for 25 years winning an astounding 16 state titles in that time.

His work has not gone unnoticed nationally.

He was named the United States Professional Tennis Association's National High School Coach of the Year in 2009.

In 2000, he was named the Iowa Tennis Association's Coach of the Year.

Eyre said that he would prefer not to remember his legacy as the number of championships he won, but remember his "being a helper for people to grow and improve."
