OTTUMWA, IOWA -- It is that time of the year again for the Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce’s Gene Schultz Community Service Award nominations.
You have until Friday at noon. to nominate an outstanding member of the community who has selflessly worked hard at making Ottumwa a better place.
This person will be someone who gives others credit and recognition, is a worker as well as an organizer and is enthusiastic about Ottumwa, just to name a few criteria.
“If there is a volunteer out there that you know is doing such wonderful things and good things, you need to get a nomination in so we can take a look at it and unfortunately we can only give away one and so the better the nomination is, the better the information on the nomination, the more we know about the candidate because we meet and converse and there’s a group of about 8 or ten people from all over the community that make the decision on the Gene Schultz Community Service Award,” said Terry McNitt, Ottumwa Chamber Director.
Last year’s award went to Chuck Bates. The receiver of the award will be announced January 30 at the Partners in Progress Banquet.
