KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Airport and Transportation Commission met at Kirksville City Hall on Tuesday to discuss the city's public works.

ATC members addressed the 2013 Traffic Count and the 5 Year Street Improvement Plan.

They have already begun identifying streets that will be included in the street improvement plan. However, a full list won't be completed until spring of 2013.

John Buckwalter, with the Public Works Department, tells KTVO they have been surveying streets already.

"When we look at a street that's classified as a collector street, we'll look at about how many vehicles a day that street caries. We will probably place a higher priority on a street which is in poor condition that's carrying 3,000 vehicles a day over a street that's in poor condition that only carries 200 vehicles a day," Buckwalter said.

About $800,000 of available funds for 2013 will be used for concrete pavement repair and asphalt overlay projects.
