OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Ottumwa Economic Development Corporation (OEDC) has a new tool to help retain and attract new businesses to Ottumwa.

The organization created a new, state of the art website. The new site was funded by local businesses, such as Mid American Energy, Alliant Energy, Cargill, John Deere and The Legacy Foundation.

According to OEDC’s executive director, these businesses and organizations know the value of having this site and the importance of bringing more businesses to Ottumwa and the surrounding communities.

“A website to an economic development organization is really for us here is our main marketing tool. To make sure we are doing the best job we can to help businesses we are trying to retain and businesses we are trying to attract to the community. To be honest with you, we launched the website, I believe it was at the end of August and we have taken the past month and a half or so to tweak the website to add some things to the website. There are still some things we are going to be adding to the website but it has been good, we've had good feedback from the community,” said David Barajas, Executive Director of the Ottumwa Economic Development Corporation.

Barajas also told KTVO that the website is integrated with Facebook and Twitter, which helps the organization reach a broader audience.
