KIRKSVILLE, MO -- One festival that was introduced to Kirksville last year is returning once again this year.

The Kirksville Chamber of Commerce and Kraft Foods are teaming up once again for the 2nd Annual Baconfest. The event will be taking place on Saturday, September 29 on the downtown courthouse lawn from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Some of the events will include the Bacon Recipe Contest, the Little Miss Bacon and the Young Miss and Miss Sizzle pageants, a health zone for screenings, and of course lots of bacon and BLT sandwiches.

The chamber is hoping for more people and more fun this time around.

"I think we will see increased participation. We had a great crowd last year so I think that's what you're going to see. We are doing a lot of the same things. I hope we'll have a lot more people out to enjoy this year. Hopefully the weather will be the same as last year," said Sandra Williams of the Kirksville Chamber of Commerce.

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will also return to Kirksville for Baconfest.

People are asked to make two can goods or cash donation to enter the event and the contests. All donations will be given to food pantries across the area.
