OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Wisconsin Congressman and Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan will be in Des Moines Monday afternoon at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

And with the election less then two months away, both Republican and Democrat campaigns are concentrating their efforts in Iowa this week.

Wapello County Republican Chair Trudy Caviness feels Ryan exhibits all the qualities a vice-president should have.

“Well I think it's always exciting when any presidential candidates come and obviously I really enjoy Ryan. There's so much excitement about him and we're talking about the deficit, we're already over 16 billion, or trillion, I’m sorry, and so he's got a plan and it's just exciting,” said Caviness.

Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden will be speaking at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa.

Despite the fact that the vice president will be in Ottumwa, many republicans said it’s a compliment anytime presidential candidates come to Iowa because the state is known for having big voter turnout on Election Day.

“Because we care about voting; Iowans get out and vote. I think our percentages are very high compared to other states, I haven't compared them but I think it is good that the people have a chance to see the candidates and I know it costs a little when these candidates come into town but I think it's very important that citizens get out and listen and understand what the differences are between the two candidates,” said Caviness.

There are still tickets available at the Obama for America office for Biden’s speech in Ottumwa.
