KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Some Heartland kids learned more about a popular nocturnal animal.

The Missouri Department of Conservation and the Adair County Public Library held a "Whoo's Out At Night" Education Session Saturday afternoon.
 
The kids learned more about the different groups of owls that reside in the state in Missouri and how it adjusts to its habitat from hunting to seeing at night.

This fun hands-on activity is done to help give children a better appreciation for wildlife.

"I like to do these types of programs to talk to children about wildlife so they can learn more and develop respect for wildlife they have here in Missouri. They can pass what they learned to their parents or their families as they grow up and become parents as well," said Missouri Department of Conservation Education Consultant Karen Armstrong

Armstrong also added with the days getting shorter now through winter, owls will become easier to hear and see in the area.
