OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Saturday morning more than 100 people participated in Ottumwa’s 3rd annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Indian Hills Community College.

In Iowa alone, there are 69,000 people living with Alzheimer’s and more than 5 million in the United States.

“The goal of this year’s walk is $12,000 and before registration this morning we were already at $6,000,” said Alicia Pence, Program and Event Coordinator.

75 percent of the money raised will go straight to the Alzheimer’s Association with the other 25 percent going towards the association’s employees.

Walkers were given different colored flowers, each color representing how they or their family members have been affected by Alzheimer’s.
