AGENCY, IOWA -- After three years of hard work and renovations, the Hope House in Agency, Iowa is officially ready to start taking in women with substance abuse issues and begin helping them with rehabilitation.

First Resources Cooperation converted a previous home into a residential rehabilitation center. The facility will be able to house eight to 10 women and their children, and will offer residential treatment, life sills and help with finding a job.

The entire project was remodeled almost entirely by donations and volunteers, who say all the hard work is worth it for this much-needed resource.

"There's no residential treatment center within 70 miles of Ottumwa," said Cathy Pringle, a clinical supervisor with First Resources. "So it's a much-needed program in our community and it's a grim topic, but today's about celebration."

Wednesday's open house was about thanking the community and volunteers for all they've done and all they will be able to do in the future.
