OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Heartland Humane Society is gearing up for its third annual fundraiser to support the shelter and its animals.
This year, the fundraiser is called Sunset at George and Lucy's and will be held from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, August 10. Last year's event raised over $2,500, and organizers and board members are hoping to raise over $3,000 this time around.
"We just want to see you, because everything -- every penny, every nickel -- goes to the animals," said Lucy Starr. "Everything is donated, so come and help us make this a great event for Heartland Humane and the dogs and the cats."
This year's event has several sponsors, including both local Hy Vee stores, Fairway, Subway and Quiznos, so there will be plenty of food and drink for anyone who comes out to show support.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance at either Hy Vee or from a Heartland Humane board member. They will also be on sale for the same price on the night of the event.
Sunset at George and Lucy's will be held at 16351 Bluegrass Road in Ottumwa, and for any questions or for tickets, call 684-6259.
