JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Missouri State Senator Brian Munzlinger, helped Heartland officials get educated on the inner workings of several state agencies Tuesday during his 2nd annual "Local Government Day" in the Capitol.

Munzlinger said 30 elected officials from his district were in attendance

They were able to learn about the sunshine law, cuts made to the state budget, and the auditing process.

Munzlinger said one of their main concerns is the sales use tax.

"One big issue that came up is the sales use tax," said Senator Munzlinger, (R) - 18th District.  "The Supreme Court ruled that sales tax collected on out of state automobiles couldn't be collected in counties that didn't have a sales use tax. Right after the meeting that I had in the capitol, they went over to the Department of Revenue about what they might be able to do. That is a serious issue."

Senator Munzlinger said the sales use tax bill is on the Governor's desk, but he hasn't signed it. Munzlinger said he doesn't think Governor Jay Nixon is in favor of it.
