MT. PLEASANT, IOWA -- Mount Pleasant police have arrested a 19-year-old man for alleged attempted murder.

According to Lieutenant Lyle Murray with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Chuck Coleman was arrested at the boy's baseball diamonds on Cherry Street Friday. He was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, along with other evidence. Police believe Coleman was obtaining a pistol at the diamonds and planning to shoot a Mt. Pleasant resident.

More charges against Coleman are expected and we will keep you updated with this story as more information becomes available.
