OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Seth Techel was scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the Wapello County Courthouse Wednesday morning, however, his lawyer waived the hearing.

Techel is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Lisa Techel, and nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy in the death of her unborn child. Techel pleaded not guilty to the charges last week.

Techel's case will now head to District Court, where they will set a date for indictment. A representative at the courthouse told KTVO that the indictment must take place within 45 days of arrest.

Techel is still being held in the Monroe County Jail.
