BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- Congressman Dave Loebsack took a stroll around the Bloomfield Town Square Tuesday afternoon to see for himself the restoration projects that are currently underway.
The congressman that represents Iowa’s 2nd District makes it a point to visit with smaller businesses throughout southeast Iowa.
He said that rural development is critical to economic development in Iowa.
“Well Bloomfield’s a beautiful little community to begin with, as you know. And then to see these improvements is even better. We've really got to focus on rural development in Iowa. I'm an Iowan congressman, I’m from Iowa and raised here. Rural areas are very, very important. Not enough attention I think is paid to rural areas,” said Rep. Dave Loebsack.
The Main Street Program Coorindator Diana Upton-Hill and Main Street Board President Doug Dixon led Congressman Loebsack on a tour of the square going into businesses and checking out the construction going on at the Court House.
The congressman said it’s very encouraging to see first-hand the progress that is being made in smaller towns.
