Kansas City man facing drug charges in the Heartland

UNIONVILLE, MO. -- A Kansas City man is in jail in the Heartland on several drug charges.

According to the Unionville Police Department, 38-year-old Kristopher A. Powers is being held in the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail. He has been charged with two felonies,  including possession of a controlled substance, (Methamphetamines), a class C felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, (Digital Scales), a class D felony.

Also, Powers has been charged with four misdemeanors including two counts of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, (Marijuana and Methamphetamines), class A misdemeanors, possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor, and theft/stealing, value of property less than $500, a class A misdemeanor. Also, Powers has been charged with receiving stolen property.

According to court papers, a Unionville Police Officer stopped Powers at Casey's in Unionville just before 2 p.m. Monday, after being alerted by dispatch that a man with a possible warrant may be in the area.  After a consent search of the vehicle, the officer allegedly found a marijuana pipe with residue, glass pipes with meth residue, a digital scale with methamphetamine on it, and suspicious property including tools, and jewelry.

Powers is being held on a $20,000 bond.
