New entryway to connect past generations, bring community together

KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A new edition to the entryway for Kirksville's football and Track and Field will bring together past generations of football memories, and also be able to incorporate a lot of other sports and activities will be break ground next spring.

Spainhower Field is undergoing numerous upgrades such as new bleaches, and the installation of artificial turf.

Tuesday night, the Orange and Black Foundation released information regarding a project to build a memorial entry into the field.

This is all part of an effort to make Kirksville's athletic facilities the very best and allow it to benefit a variety of people.

"I think it's going to tie a lot of different sports -  track and field, football, band," said Shawn Corbett. "A lot of students will be able to be represented there and enjoy it, so I think the idea is a wonderful one."

Construction for the memorial entryway will begin in the spring of 2013, with the completion to be done by the start of the 2013 football season.
