ALBIA, IOWA -- A fatal crash in Monroe County Iowa claims the life of an elderly Corydon man.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 82-year-old Jack Miner has passed away.
On Sunday, just before 1 a.m., he and 80-year-old Marilyn Miner, also of Corydon, Iowa, were traveling southbound on Highway 5, just south of Albia, when troopers say Jack Miner pulled into the west shoulder and attempted to make a U-Turn.
At that moment, the troopers said Miner's Buick crashed into a Ford F150, also traveling southbound on Highway 5. The F150 was driven by 32-year-old Brett Ellis, of Ottumwa, Iowa. Troopers said Ellis attempted to avoid the crash by braking and steering left, but it wasn't enough. His pickup struck the driver's side door of Miner's car.
Marilyn Miner was transported by ambulance to Monroe County Hospital with injuries. Brett Ellis refused medical treatment.
The crash is still under investigation.
