Police arrest suspect accused of theft and burglary

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A Ottumwa man is behind bars, accused of burglarizing multiple homes and vehicles.

According to Ottumwa Police Chief Jim Clark, Moises Baiza Carrasco III, 32, of Ottumwa, was arrested Thursday on multiple counts of burglary and theft.

Clark says that a large amount of stolen property including tools, purses, credit cards and jewelry were found at his residence.

Carrasco is being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $69,000 cash only bond.

The police department is asking for the public's help in identifying some of the stolen property that has been recovered. If you, or anyone you know has missing property with the name "Patrick" labeled on it, you are asked to contact the Ottumwa Police Department.

On May 10, 2012, the Ottumwa Police Department executed a search warrant at 818 North Fifth Street following an investigation into a number of burglaries that have occurred over the past several months.  A large amount of stolen property was seized during the search including tools, purses, credit cards, jewelry, and a deer stand.  As a result of the investigation, the following person was arrested on May 10th and charged on multiple counts of burglary, theft, and ongoing criminal conduct:

Carrasco remains in the Wapello County Jail with bond set at $69,000.00 cash only.

Although most of the seized property has been identified, the Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying several pieces with the name “Patrick” printed on them by what appears to be a permanent marker.  Anyone missing any property with the name “Patrick” written on it, or anyone who knows of family members or neighbors who mark their property with the name “Patrick”, is asked to contact the Investigations Unit at the Ottumwa Police Department.
