KIRKSVILLE, MO -- More than 350 Kirksville High School students where educated on Monday about organ and tissue donation..

The Co-founder of Gift of Life based in Kansas City gave six, 50-minute presenations to students thoughout the day.

It was speaker's Kim Harbur's first time in Kirksville.

She chose the demographic because with high school kids getting their license, it's a good time to give them proper facts about the donation process.

"The main message is to have them understand the process of organ donation and let them really think about what their decision is, and then share that decision with a loved one," said Kim Harbur, of Gift of Live.

Harbur added that the difficult part is trying to get high school students to understand not to just associate organ donation with death.

It's to get them to realize it's a gift of giving that could save up to eight people's lives.
