Eddyville house fire leaves one dead

EDDYVILLE, IOWA -- Monroe County Sheriff Daniel Johnson informed KTVO that his department, along with other first responders were called to a house fire at 1017 734th Avenue in Eddyville early Saturday morning for house fire.
Sheriff Johnson says that once on scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
The sheriff says that it was reported to emergency personal on-scene that a person could be inside the structure. During the investigation, the remains of an unidentified person were located.
The investigation into the fire is continuing, and Sheriff Johnson says that he will release more information once it becomes available.
Assisting Sheriff Johnson's department was the Eddyville Fire Department, Albia Fire Department, Mahaska County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County Ambulance Service, Monroe County Medical Examiner Office and the State of Iowa Fire Marshal's Office.

About 6:29 a.m. the Monroe County Law Enforcement Center received a call that the house at 1017 734th Ave rural Eddyville was fully engulfed. Once emergency personal arrived it was reported that there may be a person still inside the structure. During the investigation the remains of an unidentified person was located in the house. The investigation is continuing, as information becomes available it will be released to the public.
