“You know, I really appreciated the fact that our community saw it as a big priority. And it really is about health, and living a longer life and living a better quality of life. And as a community, if you can focus on each together, I think everyone helps,” said Ed Malloy, mayor of Fairfield.

39 percent of the community has made the Blue Zones Pledge.  Mayor Malloy hopes that number will rise to 45 percent.

The date of the site visit has yet to be determined. Mayor Malloy said the committee is ready to hit the ground running.

“We're going to get our committee together again to begin to plan what it is we’re going to show the committee when they come to visit Fairfield. At this point, we don't know how much time they're going to spend so it’s difficult to prepare specifically. So we'll wait to hear from them,” said Mayor Malloy.
