KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Two Kirksville natives already on probation are back in jail again on drug charges.
According to the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Dara L. Smith, 30, has been charged with the class B felony of manufacturing a controlled substance, the class D felony of possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of the class C felony of possession of a controlled substance.
The Adair County Sheriff's Office also reports that Matthew Van Hoose, 43, has been charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, a class B felony, possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, a class D felony.
The arrests took place at the Woodland Village Mobile Court, where Smith is a resident.
Court papers indicate that officers were led to Smith's residence after receiving a tip that she was manufacturing meth. Upon arrival, Kirksville Police Officers said Van Hoose was present. The officers searched the residences of Smith and Van Hoose.
In Smith's, officers said they found Hydrocodone, methamphetamine, numerous chemicals to manufacture methamphetamine including pseudoephedrine, and drug paraphernalia including drain cleaner, lighter fluid, and plastic tubing.
Police said they believe Van Hoose and Smith worked together to manufacture meth. Both remain in the Adair County Sheriff's Office on $75,000 cash only bonds.
