KIRKSVILLE, MO -- If you are interested in performing in a play, you have two chances coming up.

The Kirksville Parks and Recreation Department is having a Spring Dinner Theatre in April called "The Butler Did It, Singing."

It's going to be a musical spoof of mystery novels.

"The Butler Did It, Singing is set in a manor and people are invited over for dinner. They're all mystery writers or detectives. They all come there for a fun evening but end up having a real murder and figuring out who did it," said Heather Darrah, Recreation Specialist for Kirksville Parks and Recreation.

Auditions for "The Butler Did It, Singing" will be held this Sunday at 7 P.M. at the Kirksville Aquatic Center.

They are looking for five men and five women and are asking to perform a 30 second song.

"The Butler Did It, Singing" will run from April 19th-21st.

Coincidently, Curtain Call Theatre Company is also conducting a spring show in May called "The Butler Did It."

Although these two shows have the same name they have completely different story lines.

"The Butler Did It is about a Broadway producer who has been down and out and gets one last chance to prove himself to the theatrical community. He puts on a murder mystery play and some of the elements of the play spill out on the cast members too," said Dan McGurk, President of Curtain Call Theatre Company .

Auditions for "The Butler Did It" will be held Wednesday at 7 P.M. and Saturday from 2-4 P.M. at the Christ Family Church in Kirksville.

They're looking for four men and two women.

"The Butler Did It" will run from May 17th-20th.
