Library to become more accessible
BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- The Bloomfield Public Library in Davis County will be undergoing renovations this year.
The plans for the project have been talked about for the past 10 years and are now being put into action.
“And right now, our main thrust is to have the elevator in the stairs and restrooms so that way we can become A.D.A. compliant through the state library program,” says Bloomfield Public Library Director Beth Sullivan.
Right now the library is considered “tier 2.” After the renovations are complete, the library can become accredited.
The cost for the project is around $800,000 and so far the library has raised $700,000 through private donations.
“We hope that once the project gets underway, more money will start coming in,” says Sullivan.
Sullivan hopes the project will be complete in the next year.
