NOVINGER, MO -- A house fire near Novinger had firefighters busy Saturday evening.

The home where the fire took place is on Route O, on the west side of Novinger.

When KTVO arrived, firefighters from both Novinger and Kirksville were battling the blaze. There was a lot of white smoke.

Adair County Fire Chief Barry Mitchell told KTVO that firefighters were able to get the fire under control and that everyone in the home got out safely.

Firefighters say that the blaze started in the chimney and caught onto the roof of the house.
