OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties got a big donation from some caring residents Wednesday.
Front Runners in Ottumwa helped raise over $10,000 for the center, with generous donations from other people in the community.
Some of the staffers at Front Runners have used Hospice in the past, and have been happy with the care and support provided by the Hospice Staff, that’s why they picked this particular organization to raise money for.
We spoke with a Fonda Stice with Hospice, who also had her father in the center recently.
“I have been on both sides of the fence. My dad was here at Hospice about a month ago. The staff is amazing, and even though I am a Registered Nurse, I wasn’t able to take care of my dad,” said Stice.
Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties is a non-profit organization. Therefore, it relies heavily on donations.
Kristi Damerva of Front Runners took a few minutes to talk about why Front Runners choose Hospice.
“Just because they have touched the lives of so many people in the area, helping families through grieving times. Deana and Allen Fredrick, the one’s that own Front Runners, wanted to thank everyone that donated. Whether it was volunteer time, prizes or anything that went into putting the benefit on,” said Damerva.
