KIRKSVILLE, MO --
Area firefighters put their training knowledge to the test.

Four rural fire districts in Northeast Missouri took part in a live fire exercise in the parking lot near the Kirksville schools Saturday evening.

Firefighters got to put their skills to use by training for a propane burn.

“This is training, that's why we call it training. They get better each they go up there. They are now in the process of thinking about what we've learned in class all day and going up and applying it to what we're doing with a live fire and they're doing a great job, they're doing just what they need to do,” said Rusty Bradley with the University of Missouri.

The exercise lasted approximately two hours.

Firefighters say the live exercise was great hands-on experience.
