KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Now you can keep track of this year’s United Way Campaign.

The United Way of Adair County and Northeast Missouri showed off its new campaign thermometer on the square in Downtown Kirksville Friday.

Since the start of the campaign last week, The United Way has already reached 10% of the $275,000 goal.

The United Way helps out the community by providing funding to a variety of agencies and programs.

“We do a campaign every year because the needs of the community don't go away.” Said John Dungan, Executive Director of The United Way of Adair County and Northeast Missouri. “There is always somebody who needs assistance. We also contribute to the quality of life in the continuity for everybody, organizations, and emergency personnel.”

Organizers are hoping the community will pitch-in.

“We do hope folks will dig deep this year.” Dungan said. “We know it has been a tough year. For those who have been blessed, we have an opportunity to share with those who are less fortunate.”

Representatives from The United Way of Adair County and Northeast Missouri will be present during Bacon Fest Saturday in Downtown Kirksville.
