ELDON, IOWA -- The Cardinal Community School District received a big boost to their extracurricular activities.
The school district partnered with Fesler Auto Mall in Fairfield, Iowa to host the "Drive One 4UR School" fundraiser. Members of the community were able to test drive Fesler Auto's new Ford vehicles for free.
Each test drive earned the school district $20, which will be used for extracurricular activities such as the Marching band and the FFA club.
"Up to $6,000 in one day, it's an incredible opportunity for the kids, " said Cardinal MS-HS Principal Jeff Miller. "You take a look at the economy, the way it is, it's just a lot of good things we can do with this."
"It's an opportunity that Ford gives us to give back to our schools and that's one of the things, especially in southeast Iowa that really sets our communities apart as the participation of everybody," said Fesler Auto Mall Co-Owner Brian Starnes.
"It's not just the parents or the the teachers, it's the local community that helps support our school districts."
After seven hours, the district reached their goal; a total of 300 people took test drives, which in turn earned the district a $6,000 donation.
