MT. PLEASANT, IOWA -- Exhibitors loaded their prized equipment as another Midwest Old Thresher's Reunion came to an end.
The reunion was held Thursday, Sept. 1 until Monday, Sept. 5. There were hundreds of tractors and working steam engines, along with gas engines, wild wild west performances and country music shows included Joey + Rory, Jake Owen, and Marty Stuart. The Reunion concluded Sunday with the Invitational Horse Pull.
Organizers said overall, the 2011 attendance was up although Saturday's rain hurt numbers a little. Also, they said people from Russia and Canada came to the reunion.
Now, they are working on making the 2012 reunion even more of an educational experience.
"Well we're always looking at ways to help folks learn about the stuff that's here and educate them," said Terry McWilliams, the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion spokesperson.
"We started a new thing this year, the "Did you Know" panels, which were around the grounds so people could learn a little about the equipment they're looking at. We're going to continue that program into some of the other areas."
McWilliams said they are looking into putting more "Did you Know" panels into the cars and trucks section, the gas engine section and possibly the Log Village.
Next year's Midwest Old Threshers Reunion will take place Aug. 30 -Sept. 3.
