Rollover crash claims two lives

MONROE COUNTY, MO -- A morning traffic crash in Monroe County took the lives of two Heartland residents.
According to the
Missouri State Highway Patrol
, Nicholas Spilker, 25, of Bethel, was soutbound on Route V north of Stoutsville when he failed to negotiate a curve at 7:45 a.m. After fishtailing, the vehicle struck a ditch and rolled several times. Spilker and a passenger, Brittany Shinn, 21, of Shelbina, were ejected.
Spilker and Shinn were pronounced dead at the scene by Monroe County Deputy Kent Hanshew.
There have been 23 fatalities resulting from crashes in Troop B this year.
