KIRKSVILLE, MO --
A Kirksville food pantry desperately needs your help to feed hungry families in the community.
Shelves are literally bare at the Salvation Army's food pantry.
The pantry gets food every month from The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and other food drives, but their supply is looking pretty sparse.
“We don't have very much food in our food pantry, not enough to actually give each family that comes in an adequate amount of food to last for a couple of days. Right now if they can make it last for two they're really lucky, but what we do have in the food basket, if you get creative you could probably come up with a meal, but you have to be really creative,” said Major Bill Hogg, Kirksville Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army gives out food baskets to as many as 500 hundred families every month.
52 families received food from its pantry on Monday.
If you'd like to help, food donations may be dropped off at the Salvation Army on Gardner Street, or monetary donations can be used to purchase food.
