OTTUMWA -- A new company tabbed to possibly run the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa spoke to the public Monday.

VenuWorks held a public meet-and-greet with city council and city officials as well as members of the public.  The company is the only one to file papers to become the new management of the center.  VenuWorks is based in Ames, Iowa and provides services to similar buildings in Des Moines, Spencer and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  You can learn more about them here.

Mayor Dale Uehling says he’s looked into the company and says they would be a great fit for the town.

“They have a facility at Spencer, Iowa and I talked to the mayor up there,” said Uehling.  “They have facilities in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids Davenport so they’re in Iowa.  They are doing a good job as near as we can determine with those facilities.”

Steven Peters, VenuWorks president, says he is impressed with Ottumwa and the Bridge View Center.  Peters says he’s excited at having a chance to run the center and says he’s game for ways to improve.

“Listening to staff,” said Peters.  “Listening to folks here, listening to the board to figure out what they see as gaps areas of improvement market areas maybe that could be approached.  Eventually we'll make use of the network of facilities that we have to be able to program and bring more activity to the facility."

VenuWorks would still need approval before becoming the new management in 2012.
