KIRKSVILLE, MO --
A Northeast Missouri teen is accused of stealing his brother's car.
Tyler Treece, 17, of Glenwood is charged with one count of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.
According to court documents, Treece told police he stole the car because he was upset with his girlfriend, so he decided rather than go to her house and destroy property, he would take his brother's car and go for a drive.
Treece allegedly took the car around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
He told investigators he drove to a Kirksville residence where he spent time with friends.
Treece then returned the car about five hours later.
He’s being held in the Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond.
