MONTICELLO, MO. -- The wife of a Kirksville School Board member entered a guilty plea Monday in a Lewis County courtroom, in connection with an incident that occurred at a Kirksville High School football game last fall.
Jeanne Brawner, 49, wife of Kirksville School Board member Jeff Brawner, entered the plea to a misdemeanor count of peace disturbance. According to court papers, Brawner had admitted to some of those in attendance that she had been drinking prior to the game and threatened to kill KHS football coach Chris Daniels and Athletic Director Andy Jackson.
Brawner was given a suspended imposition of sentence. She was placed on two years unsupervised probation with special conditions. As part of her probation Brawner must complete treatment and care for mental health and/or substance abuse, she must serve 25 hours of community service. She also is not allowed to possess or consume alcohol prior to or while attending any Kirksville R-3 event or activity. Brawner is also subject to alcohol testing while in attendance at school events.
Adair County Prosecutor Matt Wilson told KTVO he considered this a proper outcome which was made more difficult by the fact that some witnesses in the case were not willing to cooperate.
Brawner is once again allowed to attend events and activities on school property, after being restricted from doing so following the incident.
