MOUNT PLEASANT, IOWA -- Many former and current college football coaches were in Mount Pleasant Friday.
The first ever Iowa Wesleyan College Football Alumni and Friends camp was held at Maple Leaf Field. The day camp welcomed kids of all ages.
All of the coaches who attended were former coaches at IWC, and many have gone on to have successful careers. Among the coaches present were former IWC head coach Hal Mumme, and Minnesota Gophers wide recievers coach Pat Poore. But the most famous coach is former Offensive Coordinator and former Texas Tech Head Coach Mike Leach.
" I think its going to be fun for the players, coaches and certainly fun for us to have a bit of a reunion and see the coaches of the past. See some of our former players. I'm excited to spread the word about Iowa Wesleyan football and get it out there that we're excited and we want the people to be excited as well."
Leach also said his time at IWC prepared him to be a head coach.
"At one point in time I was the offensive coordinator, the offensive line coach, equipment coordinator, video coordinator, recruiting coordinator, and sports information director. I really got to know a whole lot of aspects about football and all the details that go along with doing that."
Leach also promoted his new book "Swing your Sword", which is set to be released July 19.
