OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Ottumwans came together to have fun and raise money for children in need.

The first annual Remembrance Day Parade was held at the Greater Ottumwa Park. It was organized by the Ottumwa Shrine Club; a group that focuses on children in need of medical care by raising funds.

Entertainment was free, and also included a car and motorcycle show, music, games, and concessions. But the main event was the parade.

Ottumwa Shrine Club President Dennis Renfrew says its also a time to thank Veterans with Memorial Day around the corner.

"We need to honor the veterans coming up on Memorial Day. I couldn't do what I do for the children without the veterans. The non-profit society's here do countless good deeds for all the children. The veterans appreciate that. And we appreciate the veterans."

Renfrew was impressed with the first time turnout. He hopes to make it an annual tradition. To learn more about sponsors and other Ottumwa Shrine Club information, visit www.ottumwashrineclub.com
