MAHASKA COUNTY, IOWA -- UPDATE- The Iowa State Patrol confirmed this Tuesday that Travis Fritz passed away at Mercy Medical Center late Sunday evening.

An Ottumwa man is in the hospital as a result of a one-car accident Sunday night.

According to an Iowa State Patrol's Online accident report, Travis Fritz, 23, lost control of his BMW while traveling eastbound on Hwy 23 near Urbana Avenue in Mahaska County.

Fritz's vehicle rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a field.

Fritz was taken to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines by helicopter.

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
