FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- The Fairfield Arts and Convention Center said thank you to residents Saturday.
The city hosted a community appreciation party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sondheim Center. Activities included games and face-painting for children, free food, music and ethnic dances from performers showcasing the diversity in Fairfield.
Executive Director Rustin Lippincott says it's all to show the appreciation for residents who supported the city's Arts and Convention Center.
"It's a way to give back to the community. Tell them thank you for their support. Through their patronage of ticket buying, coming to our free events. We've got quite a facility. The whole southeast Iowa region has really stepped up to support it."
This is the first year of the event. Lippincott says the turnout was even better than expected and wants to make it an annual tradition. For more information on the center, visit www.fairfieldacc.com.
