CHILLICOTHE, MO. -- UPDATE:

Two people are dead in Chillicothe after what appears to be a murder-suicide.

Just before 3:30 p.m. Monday, Chillicothe police responded to a report of a possible attempted suicide.

Another call came in while officers were on the way reporting gunshots being heard at the same location.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two people dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Authorities believe that 35-year-old Adam J. Hays shot his wife, 30-year-old Kelly Hays then turned the gun to himself.

Chillicothe police will continue their investigation by speaking to neighbors, friends, and relatives to figure out what may have caused the shootings.
