The Iowa State Legislature has passed the bi-partisan proposal reflective of the changing population in the state. With the 2010 census complete, new district lines had to be drawn.
Thursday, U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack announced his candidacy for re-election in Iowa's 2nd District. The Congressman issued a statement today saying, "I will never stop fighting for what is right. Putting Iowa's interests ahead of the special interests."
KTVO spoke with Trudy Caviness, Chair of the Wapello County Republican Party, Thursay about what the new districts mean to the state.
"One thing that seems kind of interesting in this whole Congressional map is everything kind of converses on Polk County, the 4 districts. I am sure the way it had to be drawn, and that was it. But that is a concern for people that don't live in Polk County or the Des Moines area that all 4 Congressional districts are merging their," said Caviness.
