KIRKSVILLE -- Local girl scouts of Kirksville are helping those in need by collecting personal care items.

It is all part of  eastern Missouri's 14th annual April Showers personal care item drive.

The girl scouts in the region hope to collect over four million items and local troops are working to collect a good chunk of that amount.

Over the last three days, girl scout troops have delivered over 1,000 plastic bags to homes all across Kirksville.

They collected items such as soap, shampoo, facial tissues, and toothpaste, along with baby items and first aid supplies, which will stay in the area.

The girl scouts said they feel good about helping those in need.

If a bag was not hung on your door, you can deliver your bag of goods to the Christian Community Food Depot next Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
