OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Ottumwa City Council convened Tuesday evening to discuss the city's Transit Authority.

City Leaders listened to a new report from Transit Administrator Pam Ward. Ward says the priority going forward involves a consolidated grant application.

The department has partnered with two other local agencies to help bring more money from the grant. Those agencies are the Chariton Valley Transportation Affiliation and Area 15 Regulatory Planning Commission. The applications have been completed and submitted.

Ward says they're getting lots of support from the public.

"This year when we compiled our consolidated grants, we received letters of support from customers and from individuals that urged us to pursue certain aspects of our bus service in Ottumwa and the surrounding 11 counties."

The Iowa Department of Transportation is now looking at the application. The department should know how much they'll get by mid-May or early June.
