It's been a rough few days for the small community of Atlanta, Missouri.

Family, friends and neighbors gathered Tuesday to pay their last respects to a high school sophomore killed in a car crash last Friday.

The funeral for Joshua " Bub" Rhodes, 16, was held in the Atlanta High School gym.

An estimated 400 people attended the service.

Rhodes' basketball coach, Jason Daniels, told KTVO the young man's smile, positive attitude and all-around goodness will be missed.

"Bub was an energetic, smiling, just a loving kid that came in a little package, but he had a lot to offer everybody," said Daniels.

Daniels said Rhodes was only five feet tall, but was a big asset as a guard on the high school basketball team.

We're told Rhodes also enjoyed track, hunting-and-fishing and being with friends.

"He was a little boy (who) could teach a lot a men a lot of lessons," said Daniels. Reporter: :How so? What do you mean by that? What kind of person was he?”

"His outlook on everything he did, his approach, his positive attitude, how he enjoyed just everything he did, whether it was playing basketball or just going to class," said Daniels.

His obituary described him as a very charismatic, happy and loving boy who always wore a smile.
