FAIRFIELD,IOWA -- Fairfield is now looking for a new Economic Director.
Executive Director of Economic Development Brent Willett resigned; and today was his last day on the job. Willett has accepted a Director position for the Mason City/Clear Lake Economic Development Corporation.
Willett spent the last four years in Fairfield and was also the Director for the Chamber of Commerce. He says he will miss the citizens he knew and worked with the most.
"These are some of the finest people I've ever had an opportunity to know. Fairfield is my first 'small town' I've lived in in my life. It's been a wonderful, wonderful place to call home."
Willett says he has accomplished many goals to help make Fairfield a diverse city. Although it is bittersweet, he's glad to leave Fairfield in great shape financially.
"We've been able to secure a little over $4.5 million in local, state, and federal incentives to help leverage close to $50 million in new capital investments and the creation of about 350 new jobs. So that's a point of satisfaction."
The search is already underway for a new director.
