KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Kirksville School District  will partner up with the new dental school coming to Kirksville in the fall of 2013.

"Kirksville is very successful at education and we need to try to expand that in every way we can" said Patrick Williams, Superintendent of the Kirksville School District.

Kirksville School District  is already partners with two other institutions in the area including the ambulance districts E.M.T. program and in the Moberly Area Community College nursing program.

When the new dental program became a reality, it was a no brainer for Kirksville School District.

"When we saw the opportunity to partner with them, it allowed us to expand the programming that increases students employability" said Williams.

Kirksville School District  will spend $175,000 on equipment that will equip two dental labs that will accommodate up to 15 students.

But where is that money going to come from?

"The beauty of it is the vocational equipment grants as a 75/25 match. In other words, school districts in the state for every dollar you have available, the state will give you three dollars for that" said Williams.

The state of Missouri makes this money available for  schools all over the state.

The money that isn't pursued gives other schools a chance to benefit.

Kirksville School District kept their mission in full view.

"Our mission as a public school district is to provide training for our students and to provide training for adults in the community. That's our charge and were required and obligated to do that in whatever fashion is possible" said Williams.

Kirksville School District is allotted $25 million a year.

People might ask why would the school district tack on $175,000 to their budget?

Kirksville School District has set themselves up as one of the most successful districts in the state. It allows the district to maintain their stance on supporting education.

"You gotta kinda balance them out. We are in a situation where we just don't have to. We can continue to think about adding, for the sake of the kids, that's what its all about" said Williams.

The Kirksville School District is already restructuring their high school health components that will go into place next year.
